چکیده

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) may present retinal changes before brain pathology, suggesting the retina as an accessible biomarker of AD. The work is a diachronic study using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) to determine total thickness and nerve fiber layer (RNFL) in APP NL−F/NL−F mouse model AD at 6, 9, 12, 15, 17, 20 months old compared wild type (WT) animals. Methods: Total RNFL were determined. mean was analyzed following Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study sectors. measured six sectors axonal ring scans around optic nerve. Results: In group WT animals, observed following: (i) At 6-months-old, significant thinning outer temporal sector observed; (ii) 15-months-old inner inferior noticed; (iii) 17-months-old, thickening nasal found both rings; (iv) 20-months-old, nasal, temporal, superior seen. thickness, there global analysis inner-temporal 6 old. Thinning also supero-temporal value Conclusions: model, showed thinning, possibly produced by neurodegeneration alternating with caused deposits neuroinflammation some areas retina. These over time are similar those human could be for help us better understand different during progression

Retinal thickness changes after phacoemulsification

PURPOSE To determine the effect of phacoemulsification on macular volume and thickness using spectral domain optical coherence tomography examinations. METHODS Twenty-seven eyes of 27 subjects who underwent phacoemulsification were studied. All nine areas of the macula were examined by spectral domain optical coherence tomography preoperatively and 2 months postoperatively. Effective phacoemu...

Research Paper: GONAL-F Induced Endometrial Thickness Changes in Ovariectomized Rats With and Without HCG

Introduction: To attach the fetus to the endometrial epithelium, the endometrium should be affected and allowed by the steroid hormones secreted from the ovary. Thus, the endometrium is then subject to several structural and biochemical changes. Implantation involves the embedment, adhesion and invasion steps that specific receptors are engaged in that. The role of membrane receptors in uterine...

Quantification of retinal layer thickness changes in acute macular neuroretinopathy

PURPOSE To quantitatively evaluate retinal layer thickness changes in acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN). METHODS AMN areas were identified using near-infrared reflectance (NIR) images. Intraretinal layer segmentation using Heidelberg software was performed. The inbuilt ETDRS -grid was moved onto the AMN lesion and the mean retinal layer thicknesses of the central grid were recorded and com...

Heritability of cortical thickness changes over time in twin pairs discordant for schizophrenia

BACKGROUND Cortical thickness and surface area changes have repeatedly been found in schizophrenia. Whether progressive loss in cortical thickness and surface area are mediated by genetic or disease related factors is unknown. Here we investigate to what extent genetic and/or environmental factors contribute to the association between change in cortical thickness and surface area and liability ...

Changes in the thickness of the macular ganglion cell complex and retinal nerve fiber layer over time after surgery in a case of juvenile glaucoma

Purpose To report longitudinal changes over time after surgery in the topography of the optic disc, thickness of the circum papillary retinal nerve fiber layer (c-RNFL), and thickness of the macular ganglion cell complex (m-GCC) in a case of juvenile open angle glaucoma. Observations Case report based on one patient. After significant edema of the optic disc for 2 months, the cup depth and cu...
